Privacy Policy

The California National Party respects your privacy.

What we collect

This website collects only the personal information you choose to send us:

  • Contact and feedback form submissions — your name, email address, and message, when you fill out our contact form. We use this to respond to you.
  • Email list signups — your name (optional) and email address, when you sign up for updates. We use this to send you party news and announcements.

We do not add tracking cookies, advertising networks, third-party trackers, or website-analytics scripts to this site, and we do not build a profile of your browsing. Because the site is delivered through Cloudflare (see Service providers below), Cloudflare records standard aggregate traffic statistics — such as request counts and approximate location — at the network level to deliver and protect the site. Those statistics are cookieless and are not tied to your identity.

What we do with it

We use your data only to communicate with you about the California National Party. We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal information for advertising or with any unrelated third party.

To operate the website we rely on a small number of trusted service providers, and we pass each of them only the information it needs to do its job on our behalf — described next.

Service providers

The following companies process data for us as our service providers. Under the California Consumer Privacy Act they may use your information only to perform services for us, never for their own purposes, and we do not permit them to sell it:

  • Stripe — processes donations and membership payments on its own hosted pages, under its own privacy policy. This website never sees your card details.
  • Cloudflare — protects our forms from spam and abuse (Turnstile) and hosts our media and site infrastructure. When you submit a form, Cloudflare receives your IP address and a verification token to confirm you are a human, not a bot.
  • Resend — delivers email we send, such as password resets and, if you have subscribed, party updates. Resend receives the email address a message is addressed to.
  • OpenAI — powers "Cal," our AI assistant. Messages you send to the chatbot, and information you have submitted to us that staff ask the assistant about, may be sent to OpenAI to generate a response. Conversations are not stored against your name or email, and OpenAI does not use this data to train its models.
  • Our hosting provider — stores our database and serves the website.

We do not disclose your personal information to anyone else except when required by law (for example, a valid subpoena or court order).

Your rights (CCPA)

The California National Party is a California organization and complies with the California Consumer Privacy Act. As a California resident you may:

  • Request access to the personal information we have about you.
  • Request that we delete your personal information.
  • Unsubscribe from our email list at any time, either directly from any email we send or by emailing us.
  • Request that we correct inaccurate information about you.

To exercise any of these rights, email operations@cnp-dev.org. We will respond within 45 days.

Children

This website is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Security

Your data is stored in our PostgreSQL database, with contact submissions and subscriber records encrypted at rest. Communications with this site use HTTPS. We use industry-standard security practices — parameterized database queries, CSRF protection on form submissions, and rate limiting — to protect against abuse.

Data retention

Contact-form submissions are retained until they are no longer needed for the purpose for which they were collected, or until you ask us to delete them. Email-list entries are retained until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page and post the new version here. We will not retroactively apply a less-protective policy to information we have already collected.
